Features

This 4 bedroom, 3 bath Cape Cod style shingle home in the award winning Sun Valley school district has everything on the wish list for growing families. The home has recently been upgraded with many modern touches but still retains a lot of the original charm.  The floor plan is ideal for family living with a formal living room with fireplace and French doors leading to the backyard. The kitchen, with new marble counter tops, is open to the dining area and gets great natural light. There is a large multi purpose family room just off the kitchen which is a great place for the kids to play while someone gets a meal or snack prepared. There are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on the main floor and another bedroom and bathroom downstairs with an additional, large bonus room that could be a great home office, man cave or teenager hang out. The property has ample outdoor space with a lovely terrace, deck, hot tub, zip line, mature trees for privacy and plenty of room to entertain friends from the neighborhood.  The charming, tree lined street on a quiet cul-de-sac is private yet close to both downtown San Anselmo and San Rafael. The property is close to many hiking and biking trails as well as the freeway for commuters. A rare opportunity to own a spacious home with a practical floor plan, great indoor and outdoor flow and curb appeal to spare.

Neighborhood

San Rafael

The county seat of Marin, San Rafael is large, diverse, eclectic, and historic. That history stretches from California's beginnings, with the 1817 founding of Mission San Rafael on the old El Camino Real, to the construction of the eye-popping Marin Civic Center in the 1960s. Designed by renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the Civic Center was completed in 1962 and is so futuristic that it pops up in science-fiction films.

San Rafael still looks to the future thanks to a vibrant downtown redevelopment effort. The focal point of downtown is the Smith Rafael Film Center, which features a state–of-the-art multiplex cinema that screens independent and foreign films.  Cuisine is eclectic: within a few blocks of 4th Street diners can find sushi, Indian, Thai, Italian, Mexican, and Puerto Rican food. Thursday afternoons in the spring and summer find 4th Street hosting a farmers market, which features live music.
The neighborhoods of San Rafael are equally distinctive. From the sought-after midcentury Eichler homes of Terra Linda to the Victorians that surround Dominican College and the custom homes of Lucas Valley, San Rafael provides diversity of price and style.

It's also easy to get away from it all in San Rafael. Nearby China Camp State Park is a jewel by the bay, offering: a kid-friendly, walk-in campground for tents only; a shallow, protected swimming beach; and biking and running trails.
