2+Bedroom/2 Bathroom former church located on a tree-lined street in South Berkeley is teeming with charm. A recent and vibrant coat of paint, along with a large lot exemplify California indoor/outdoor living.

High ceilings and Douglas fir floors create a welcoming vibe in the living room and kitchen. Large, dual-pane windows let-in ample light. A door from the kitchen to the garden means barbequing on the patio and enjoying the freshly landscaped garden will become routine.

Newer kitchen with farm sink, wooden cabinets, marble counter tops, large pantry and stainless steel appliances add a modern touch. Kitchen flows into living room where a clever staircase to the attic has been installed. The attic is a carpeted and useable bonus space with many options: playroom, office or get-away.

On the main level are two bedrooms and two bathrooms. First bedroom has high ceilings, Douglas fir floors and a huge walk-in closet. Second bedroom is sunny with a door opening to the rear garden. Hall bathroom has a glass shower, new vanity and tile.

Nest thermostat, forced air heat and a parking pad with enough space for two cars + bikes. Large private, fenced yard full of flowers, drought resistant plants, bamboo, magnolia and a new detached work shed for all your tools and camping equipment.

Awesome South Berkeley location close to Berkeley Bowl, Transbay Bus Line, Ashby BART, Ford GoBike station, local restaurants, such as; Moxy, Sweet Adeline Bakery and Easy Creole.

Neighborhood

South Berkeley

You can't get closer to the University of California than South Berkeley, the neighborhood originally developed in the 1860s by the school’s predecessor, the College of California. The latter institution may be long gone, but the large, spacious, brown-shingled homes along Allston, Bancroft, Channing, and Dwight ways remain.

Densely populated, the neighborhood contains some of the city’s oldest and  most charming homes. South Berkeley is a mix of students, longtime residents, businesses, and homes.

The major thoroughfares are Telegraph Avenue, Bancroft Way and Alcatraz Avenue, where street vendors, bookstores, record shops, and inexpensive eateries cater to students. Nightlife is abundant, thanks to the proximity to campus, Zellerbach Hall, and Downtown Berkeley.

Both the Ashby and Downtown Berkeley BART stations serve the neighborhood, as do a number of Alameda-Contra Costa Transit buses, making it a snap to get to downtown San Francisco, local airports, sports stadiums, and other locations in the Bay Area.
