Features

This turn of the century brown shingle offers a rare combination of timeless charm, a sense of history and many updates for today’s modern style of living. 245 Kent was built in 1911 with a level of quality that is no longer found in today’s world. The home underwent a major renovation the early 2000's.  Jared Polksy, AIA, guided the refurbishment with respect for the home’s original character and provenance.

-A wide front porch, reminiscent of yesteryear, beckons you into this charming home. Elegant, high, box beam ceilings, wood paneling, wood floors, a stately brick fireplace & a window seat are found in the living room.

-A welcoming sun room complete with a cozy window seat is adjacent to the living and could be a great office/writers space.

- Sunny farmhouse kitchen with marble countertops, subway tile, abundant cabinetry & Wolf appliances. Laundry room just off the kitchen.

-The family room/dining area is a magical room and is flooded with light. It opens to a fabulous back deck which overlooks  the established garden.

- Master suite with high coved ceiling & walk in closet is on the main floor. The large master bath features a romantic bath tub and full shower with glass enclosure.

-Sweep up the gracious staircase to the upper three bedrooms with full bath.

- Old world wood floors with wonderful patina add immense character.  Carpet was just installed and is ready for the new owner.

- Wonderful high ceilings offer a great sense of scale.

-Dream backyard with expansive green lawn makes for idyllic summer evenings.

-Garage with adjacent off street parking.

This is a rare chance to own special piece of Marin history.

Lifestyle

It is all about the Lifestyle!

245 Kent is located in prestigious Kentfield in the flats and just minutes away from Woodlands Market, Rustic Bakery, the bike path to Larkspur, the old Eddie’s market (soon to be  a pizza place), Ross Commons, Phoenix Lake and A+ Kentfield schools.

Enjoy the privay of your serene backyard/"Secret Garden" or sit on the porch and watch the world go by.  The home feels very private, yet is so close to all the local amenites.  Jump on your bike and head to Phoenix Lake and then head down to M & H Bakery in San Anselmo for a bite to eat.  So many choices!

Best of all, Kentfield offers one of the best micro-climates in Marin. Way less fog than Southern Marin, but not as hot as San Rafael.  Often, when Mill Valley is fogged in until 11am, Kentfield is sunny and warm.

Neighborhood

Kentfield

Some of the most beautiful properties in Marin can be found in Kentfield, a quiet community of spacious, older homes sited on large, lushly landscaped parcels.
The nerve center of this small, residential community is perhaps Woodlands Market, a unique gourmet grocery store, bakery, wine bar, and cafe. For more than 25 years, Woodlands Market has been the place where Kentfield residents can socialize and shop and the same time.

Kentfield is home to the College of Marin, a two-year community college with a strong local presence. The College of Marin offers adult classes to the public and has a vibrant performing-arts program of theater, vocal, and classical music. The frequent public performances provide residents with access to culture not normally found in a community of less than 7,000 residents.
