The Rose Garden is one of San Jose's most historic neighborhoods. Bursting with charm and filled with unique architecture, the Rose Garden has a strong community of wonderful families. In the 1800s, the Rose Garden was known as "Poplar City" - an area connecting the cities of San Jose and Santa Clara. This area is now known as the Rose Garden neighborhood. In the 1870s, the land was acquired by W.S. Chapman and Moses Davis, which was subdivided in 1875. The town consisted of a 30 acre tract between Alameda and Union Avenue (now Park Avenue). Orchards were included at the back of each lot and poplar trees lined the streets. The tree-lined streets and rich charming architecture of the past is what Rose Garden residents enjoy today.
