Neighborhood

Pleasant Hill

This former ranchland in the center of the Diablo Valley combines small town charm with a vibrant downtown. Restaurant row, on Crescent Drive includes more than a dozen eateries, ranging from Indian and Greek to Italian and French. A farmers' market in downtown Pleasant Hill enlivens the scene Saturday mornings May through November with cooking demonstrations, live music and the fresh grown produce of more than 25 farmers.

A bustling Community Center is part of the local Parks program, as is the Las Juntas Open Space preserve which includes a hiking and biking trail with vista views of Mt Diablo in the distance. There's plenty to do here, with summertime festivals featuring blues & brews, wine tastings, pancake breakfasts, car shows, and a showcase for up and coming garage bands at the massive lawn in front of the City Hall. The Iron Horse Regional Trail, follows the old Southern Pacific Railroad right of way, is county wide corridor that provides biking, running, and hiking from Pleasanton to Concord. A lighted bocce ball court provides a popular meeting place for less strenuous physical activity.

Public Schools are part of the Mount Diablo Unified School district. These include Gregory Gardens Elementary School, Pleasant Hill Elementary School, Sequoia Elementary School, Strandwood Elementary School and Valhalla Elementary School. The local high school, College Park High, serves more than 200 students and had a score of 786 on the California API.
