A true 2 bed 1 bath craftsman bungalow - lovingly updated over time in a serene indoor/outdoor setting.
How sweet it is! Improved in all the right spots. Property faces south onto a very productive lemon tree. 2 generous west facing bedrooms complete with high baseboards and picture railing. Sundrenched bathroom with skylight, and comfy/cozy Cork floor.
Hardwood floors in the rest of the home, wood burning fireplace in living room with horizontal push-out style windows. An easy flow into the dining room which looks east onto an active and delicious black-fig tree. The updated kitchen is a workhouse in terms of efficiency. Deep stainless steel sink, five burner gas stove, chef quality oven and exhaust hood, and roughly 12 feet of wood counter prep space. Kitchen seamlessly joins the oasis-like outdoors via a sliding glass door that opens onto a custom west facing Redwood deck. Mature black and ribbon bamboo, trumpet flowers, Japanese maple, passion flower vine, and an active grapefruit tree punctuate the backyard setting.
A detached garage was converted into an actual art studio with updated electrical, roof, insulation and 2 skylights. Additionally there is another exterior bonus space perfect for bike and gear storage. The seismically retrofitted basement allows easy access to the general systems of the house as well as additional abundant storage.

North Oakland
Stretching from Telegraph Avenue to Martin Luther King Jr Way, North Oakland homes for sale exist in many sub-neighborhoods including Bushrod Park, Golden Gate, Longfellow, Piedmont Avenue, Rockridge, Santa Fe, Temescal, Fairview Park, Shafter, Gaskill, Paradise Park, and Mosswood.
North Oakland, an area rich in history, was originally given to Vincente Peralta by his father Don Luis Maria Peralta in 1842. Despite an 1853 Supreme Court ruling however, other European settlers forced the Peraltas off of their land and began several fruit and vegetable plantations across the East Bay. This later led to a number of industrial North Oakland canning and packing facilities. In fact, North Oakland was once the home to the world’s largest cannery, Josiah Lusk Canning Company, which stood at the corner of Claremonte Avenue and 51st Street.
Today, North Oakland real estate is in convenient proximity to the popular Jack London Square and Oakland’s Preservation Park. The Paramount Theater, Chabot Space & Science Center, and Children’s Fairyland also provide entertainment for people of any age or interest.
