776 Kingston Avenue in Piedmont CA

Livable luxury and understated elegance await you.

From time to time a very special property becomes available in the City of Piedmont.  This amazing Craftsman style home that’s privately nestled on a gated +16,000 square foot lot is truly one of those homes.

The street front displays a subtle wooden mechanized entry gate and an adjacent carriage-house styled 1 car garage with a private 1 bedroom cottage/Au pair suite above.  Architecturally designed and built, the suite has a spacious sleeping room, a sophisticated kitchenette and modern bathroom.  A perfect and private place for any desired guest.

Entering into the property you’re carried over a large loose-lied paver driveway where you’re immediately be struck by the mature fruit trees, rose bushes, redwood trees and detailed gardens.  The formal entrance to the left is only matched by the serpentine brick walkway that leads to a spacious wood deck directly off the side kitchen-breakfast room.  The exquisite grounds around the rear of the home are equally stunning and offer several distinct and secluded areas. There’s a circular firepit area, a rose and vegetable garden, a children’s play structure and an ultra-charming she-shead/man-cave perfect for quiet activities or loud hobbies.

This home will captivate you from the moment you enter the front door.  Original woodwork hardwood flooring, many windows overlooking the gardens and grounds, and the spacious scale of the living areas are just the beginning.  Enjoy the very large family-room with its French doors leading out.  The room is perfect for just relaxing in, movie nights or even extended guests.  Entertaining will be a delight in the formal dining-room and easy meals can be had in the breakfast room just off the kitchen.  The 5 bedrooms upstairs leave room for many and the master suite with walk-in closet provides privacy and comfort.

In an environment where Sheltering in Place has become necessary… ohhh what a place this is to shelter in!  The central location will keep you feeling “away from it all” but you'll know that you are just minutes from the convenience of shops, restaurants, transportation options and the city of San Francisco.

Neighborhood

Piedmont, a two-square-mile city within the borders of Oakland, was incorporated in 1907 and was known then as “The City of Millionaires” because there were more millionaires per square mile residing there than in any other U.S. city. Today, their large, estate-like homes are still standing in the heart of Piedmont, reminding residents of its glitzy past. Homes in Piedmont range from those estate-like homes in central Piedmont with expansive grounds to more modest homes on the edges of town. Well-manicured landscapes prevail and the city’s stringent permitting guidelines ensure all of the homes maintain their original flavor. The commercial area of town is small, featuring several banks and one gas station. Mulberry’s Market, a specialty food store with ready-made meals, caters to gourmet taste buds and is the frequent morning coffee stop for parents and after-school hot spot for kids. Piedmont’s proximity to Oakland’s many big-city amenities ensures Piedmonters will not miss out on the latest restaurants or first-run movies. The sense of community is strong, as witnessed by the large turnout for the annual Fourth of July parade that happens each year down Highland Avenue. The Piedmont Recreation Center offers a central gathering place for residents. Available for rental, it is the frequent setting for community events and parties. The beautiful grounds provide a wonderful place to hang out and play, and the wooded trail connecting the Center to the high school is the best place to take your dog to play. A casual carpool zone on Oakland Avenue, along with proximity to Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) and Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District buses, offer workers convenient commute options. Pride in community involvement and village living are just a few of the reasons people love to live in Piedmont.
