Features

This stately Victorian with dramatic gambrel style roof awaits an extreme makeover! If you’ve been looking for a truly deserving contractor fixer this is a great opportunity to bring this house back to it’s full glory and make it gorgeous again!

The high ceilings and fabulous large windows provide exceptional light throughout the home. A classic covered front porch leads through the early craftsman style solid wood door to an entry hall with the original staircase to the upstairs.

This property appears to have been built originally as single family home. Quite likely it was reconfigured into two units to help address the war time housing shortage. There were some additions made to the property and it is currently set up as a duplex with easy access from one level to the other.

There are multiple original features including dramatic high ceilings, window seats, curved doorway trim and charming storage spaces.

The ground floor is currently configured with 2 large living rooms, an enclosed sun porch off the kitchen and 2 bedrooms with a shared bathroom.

Upstairs is a large living room and an additional bedroom plus a kitchen and a bathroom.

The large level sunny yard with established lemon tree offers potential for the aspiring gardener and those looking for generous outdoor space
to relax or entertain in our current environment.

A long driveway leads to a garage with renovation potential and a generous footprint, explore your options for this space and make it your own.

Not for the first time buyer(!) this property needs a fair amount of work but there is plenty of upside for the experienced renovator in this uber popular established residential location.

The next owner will enjoy plentiful outdoor space and the convenience of the nearby Berkeley Bowl, Elmwood shops, Ashby BART and all this neighborhood has to offer.

Neighborhood

You can't get closer to the University of California, Berkeley campus than South Berkeley, the neighborhood originally developed in the 1860s by the school’s predecessor, the College of California. The latter institution may be long gone, but the large, spacious, brown-shingled homes along Allston, Bancroft, Channing, and Dwight ways remain. Densely populated, the neighborhood contains some of the city’s oldest homes. South Berkeley is a mix of students, longtime residents, businesses, and homes. The major thoroughfares are Telegraph Avenue, Bancroft Way, and Alcatraz Avenue, where street vendors, bookstores, record shops, and inexpensive eateries cater to students. Nightlife is abundant, thanks to the proximity to campus, Zellerbach Hall, and Downtown Berkeley. Both the Ashby and Downtown Berkeley BART stations serve the neighborhood, as do a number of Alameda-Contra Costa Transit buses, making it a snap to get to downtown San Francisco, local airports, sports stadiums, and other locations in the Bay Area.
