A little information about the wonderful Oakmore neighborhood:
The Oakmore Homes Association is the oldest homeowner’s association in Oakland. Established by Walter H. Leimert in 1926, the Association continues to work with the City of Oakland to maintain the unique beauty of this wonderful neighborhood called “Oakmore Highlands”. Their mission: “ The Oakmore Homes Association is a community of Oakmore neighbors committed to promoting and enhancing safety, beautification, community in our neighborhood” They sponsor a neighborhood Fourth of July celebration, an occasional community garage sale, common area and creek clean-ups and act as a watchdog for zoning and planning issues. Dimond Park (at the end of Hanly Road just below Oakmore Highlands)
The Friends of Sausal Creek is a group of residents, teachers, students, merchants, and elected officials working together with the City of Oakland and the County of Alameda to improve Sausal Creek. The organization supports creek restoration, maintenance, and planning efforts. Sausal Creek runs through Dimond Canyon along the Bridgeview trail at Monterey Road, Dimond Park and lower Oakmore.

Montclair Village
Tucked away in the wooded hills and winding streets above Oakland, Montclair is a small community with an appealing central shopping district. Sizable custom homes, along with a mix of Mediterranean, Craftsman, and contemporary-style homes are situated on forested lots, offering an elegant retreat from the city.
The Montclair Business District is a throwback to a simpler time before strip malls, megamalls, and big-box stores. Residents can find everything they need, from dry cleaning and groceries to restaurants. Local restaurant favorites include the Montclair Egg Shop, Daughter Thai and Crogan’s Montclair Restaurant. Gourmet specialty items are available at Le Bonbon, and Farmstead Wine and Cheese. A farmers market on Sundays provides fresh local produce and baked goods. Montclair is home to fine arts, wine and crafts festivals throughout the year and a jazz festival in the late summer that enlivens the street scene.
