Features

Nestled in a classic Berkeley Hills neighborhood of storied architectural gems and verdant parks, this family home rings true.  The views are glorious--owners were instrumental in undergrounding of neighborhood utilities.  Walkable to campus, Rose Garden, Codornices Park, La Loma Park and surrounding shops and restaurants, the area feels almost like an extension of the home.  Lovingly maintained for 70 years and ready for some updates.   Spruce it up now, or move right in and do so over time.

The main level consists of a generous living room and family room with views west, and luminous, floor to ceiling windows.  The same elegant windows grace the dining room.  There is an expansive, classic kitchen on this floor in addition to two attractive bedrooms and a bathroom.

The upper level has a Mid-Century vibe, with two ample bedrooms, each with its own private deck, and a bathroom in between.  The west bedroom is particularly large with Bay views and the perfect built-in dresser and wide closet.

For laundry, storage and workshop, there is a large basement that has been wired for a ceramicist's kiln.  And in back, you'll find an enclosed, sunny south-facing yard.  Newer roof, decks and many systems.

Neighborhood

Perched above the city and offering the best views in the entire Bay Area, North Berkeley Hills is a peaceful residential neighborhood, yet not far from the hustle and bustle of the city’s more urban areas. Homes in the neighborhood are built in a variety of styles and feature spacious patio decks, manicured lawns and lushly landscaped gardens.

North Berkeley Hills residents can enjoy neighborhood views of the San Francisco and Oakland skylines, the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, and Mount Tamalpais. Nearby are Codornices Park, La Loma Park, John Hinkle Park and Tilden Regional Park.

Despite its elevated location, North Berkeley Hills is extremely transit-friendly. The Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District bus lines that serve the neighborhood drop residents at the Downtown Berkeley BART station for a quick commute to downtown San Francisco. 2528 Hawthorne is near UC Berkeley, and the splendid array of restaurants and amenities in highly coveted North Berkeley.
