A rare opportunity, this Queen Anne Victorian farmhouse features ample living space and a garden oasis while offering old world charm. Built in 1876, this is one of the original San Leandro residences that was set among the cherry orchards. It located within one half mile of downtown San Leandro and BART and has a walk score of 84.

This 5 bedroom 2 bath home is architecturally distinct. The white picket fence, inviting front porch, and Victorian designed door make for a pleasing exterior. Lovingly improved throughout the years, the owners have taken care to preserve the period details in the wood windows, light fixtures, wood floors, and more. The ten-foot ceilings and ample windows on the main level make this home light and bright.

The main level features the living room and adjoining dining room, a large eat-in kitchen, a bedroom and full bath. The lower level has a family room, three additional bedrooms and a full bath. The upper level has a loft-like bedroom with extensive built-ins and an enormous attic for storage. The adjoining deck overlooks the verdant and peaceful backyard.

You will enjoy countless hours in the oversized backyard relaxing on the sunny patio, listening to the birds, gardening in the raised beds, and entertaining friends and family. This yard is perfect for urban farming and has an enclosed area for a dog run, chickens, or potentially a green house. The additional studio space is well suited for art, projects and getting away from it all.

San Leandro

San Leandro is a small city just south of Oakland. Its east side stretches up into the hills of the East Bay Regional Park District. The west side is flatter and has the advantage of the San Francisco Bay shoreline, public golf course, and marina.

Homes for sale in San Leandro can be traced through the decades -- from the 1910s to the present day. A wide variety of architectural styles is found in north San Leandro. Dramatic, hillside contemporary homes, many of which feature expansive bay and canyon views, are the hallmark of the Bayo Vista neighborhood. Charming, older homes sit along the winding streets of the Estudillo Estates and Broadmoor Districts. Most of the city's ranch-style homes lie towards the Marina, along with some newer, custom-home developments.

San Leandro is proud of its small-town feel and boasts a Wednesday farmers' markets, several annual festivals, and an increasing number of locally owned restaurants and coffee houses. San Leandro’s commute options are excellent: it has its own Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station, trans-bay buses, and easy access to Interstate 880 and Interstate 580 for trips to the Silicon Valley or San Francisco.
