Active Lifestyle and Ultra-Modern Living on the San Mateo Lagoon

Overview: 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, 2-car garage, and a dock and boat slip

It’s hard to imagine that a recreational, resort-style area exists in the hustle and bustle of the Bay Area.  It does.  And it’s called the San Mateo Lagoon, where scenic and fun-filled waterways lead into the greater waters of the Bay.  Boating, waterskiing, sun tanning on long sandy beaches, picnics, hikes and bike rides are all part of the active daily lifestyle here.  What a tremendous sanctuary after a long day or week in the office!

On top of the location being a hidden gem, the home is spectacular.  A complete renovation maximized bright, open living spaces and an ultra-modern design in this waterfront home.  Walls of windows allow natural light to burst inside and capitalize on the corner lot location for striking 270-degree vivid views of the Bay.

Inside, wide-plank European hardwood floors, a marble slab fireplace, and a chic chandelier resembling rising water bubbles are just a few of the hip style elements.   The 14+ foot main-level ceiling makes for a dramatic and voluminous entry into the living room.   You may step out onto the wide deck to enjoy watching the action on the water unfold, or jump in and take part.  You decide.

The location and home at 686 Port join to create the perfect combination of dynamic living, entertaining, and active outdoor fun.

Neighborhood

San Mateo

One of the largest cities on the San Francisco Peninsula, San Mateo boasts many options for recreation, as well as a revitalized downtown with a large movie theater, restaurants, and bars.

Spanish explorers first came to present-day San Mateo on a 1776 scouting trip and named the creek they slept beside San Mateo Creek. In 1863, the railroad arrived in San Mateo, leading some wealthy San Franciscans to build summer and weekend homes in the area.

Today some 99,670 people call the city home, according to United States Census Bureau data. The median household income is $86,772, and the median home value is $740,600. Of San Mateo’s 40,014 housing units, 54 percent are owner occupied.

The city is also home to the Hillsdale Shopping Center and a number of parks, including Central Park and the Coyote Point Recreation Area. The CuriOdyssey museum at Coyote Point offers science and wildlife exhibits for children and adults, some of which feature live animals.

For a breathtakingly beautiful jog, hike, or bicycling outing, locals head to the Sawyer Camp Trail at the Crystal Springs Reservoir.
